Charles D. Shackelford is a Professor and Interim Department Head in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado, USA. He has 25+ years of experience pertaining to the geotechnical and geoenvironmental aspects of waste management and environmental remediation, and has served as an expert on waste disposal issues on several occasions for private companies and federal agencies. Dr. Shackelford has given more than 100 invited presentations in the U.S. and 13 other countries (Australia, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, England, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Scotland, United Arab Emirates, and Wales). He has served as an Editor for the ASCE Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering, and the Journal of Hazardous Materials published by Elsevier, Amsterdam, and currently serves as an Associate Editor for Geotextiles and Geomembranes and the Canadian Geotechnical Journal. He also was past chair and currently is a member of both the Geoenvironmental Engineering Committee of ASCE's Geo-Institute and the Environmental Geotechnics Committee TC215 of ISSMGE.
