Dr. Julien is Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering. He serves as the leader of the Hydraulics Program and also served as the Associate Dean for International Research and Development in 2006-07. He received his Ph.D., M.Sc. and B.Sc.A. in Civil Engineering (Hydraulics) from Laval University, and a NATO post-doctoral scholarship from the NSERC. As a registered Professional Engineer, he has completed projects for more than 50 different agencies including UNESCO and the World Bank. He has authored more than 500 scientific contributions including two textbooks, 20 lecture manuals and book chapters, 175 refereed publications including 95 full papers in scientific journals, 190 conference papers, 150 professional presentations and 115 technical reports. Under his guidance and support, 115 graduate students including 38 Ph.D.'s completed their graduate engineering degrees. Dr. Julien has delivered more than 15 keynote addresses at international conferences, taught many short courses and is a member of 12 professional societies. Dr. Julien has written two text books: Erosion and Sedimentation and River Mechanics published at Cambridge University Press. He has served as Editor of the ASCE Journal of Hydraulic Engineering (2002-05). Dr. Julien received the 2004 H.A. Einstein Award for his excellent research contributions in sedimentation and river mechanics.
