Professor Kummerow joined the CSU Department of Atmospheric Science Faculty in June 2000. Prior to joining the department, he worked at the NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center serving as the Project Scientist for the Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM). He is currently a member of the Joint TRMM and Global Precipitation Mission Science Steering Teams, and serves on NASA’s Earth Science Advisory Committee.   In addition, he serves as Director of the Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere (CIRA), a joint institute with NOAA, and is a member of the Global Data and Assessments Panel (GDAP) which forms part of the World Climate Research Program (WCRP). Professor Kummerow plays an active role in planning and defining new spaceborne missions geared towards obtaining a better understanding of the Global Water and Energy Cycle.
